How can I regain access to my Facebook account without having access to the mobile phone number?

Well apparently, recently Facebook has updated its help community settings.

Here are a few things that you can do to recover your lost Facebook account:

  • Approve from another device, if you have logged in some other place you can approve the current login from there.
  • If you have taken a copy of your printed recovery codes, you can use that to get back into your account.
  • Confirm Your Identity With Facebook
  • Go to the above link and submit a request to Facebook so that they can help retrieve your account to you.
  • Please go through the list of documents that you need to submit, and send them at-least one scan copy of the ID, so that they can verify you identity.
  • ** Currently there are no Facebook customer care number, stop falling into traps.
  • **Make sure that you do not enable two-factor authentication ever again. Its faulty believe me. Facebook needs to make sure that it works before we all can use it again.

Let me know if you have any queries.

Edit: Link updated. Link is not broken. The process takes long time to resolve. You will eventually receive a message from facebook team or any technical engineer working for Facebook. They don’t have a dedicated team for resolving issues such as these that’s why it takes time. Please bare patience. Make sure that you check your registered emails all time.

According to Facebook’s website, if you’ve enabled 2FA (Two/Multi-factor authentication) but are unable to receive the OTP (One-time password) via text due to connectivity or delivery issues your account can still be recovered with a recovery code. In order to access your recovery codes, you must:

  1. Head over to Settings ⚙️ > Security 🔒 and Login.
  2. Under the 2FA 2️⃣ Two-Factor Authentication section, tap two-factor authentication 2️⃣. You may need to re-enter your password or prove your identity through identifying photos of friends, or a SMS/text OTP (One-time password).
  3. Next go to Recovery Codes, click Setup then tap Get Codes. If you’ve already set up recovery codes, you can click Show Codes.

Despite obvious security concerns, OTP (One-time passwords) are currently the most utilized 2FA for social media platforms. In my opinion and in the future, the currently least utilized form of 2FA/MFA (behavioral biometrics) will become the most commonly used form of authentication.
